December 2024 we held a “Recognition of Achievement Event” as an upgrade to our annual Christmas celebration dinner. We changed the venue and the format of the event primarily because of the outstanding and overwhelming achievements by the The Samurai and the Samurai judoka in 2024.
The Club was host to many events in 2024, The Welsh Judo Eisteddfod in March and the Pethebridge Celebration in October together with four outstanding Kata seminars, which were real milestones in the recent development of Kata in Wales. The Samurai was instrumental in the development of the first Welsh Kata Championships in August where both Dean Maynard and Russell Drodge were our first Welsh kata medalist. The list of individual achievements is extensive and clearly producing a phenomenally successful year for The Samurai.
