An outstanding achievement for Ashwin. This Championship Title has come as a result of consistent hard work both in terms of physical and technical development and is even more impressive when you consider Ashwin suffered a broken leg earlier in the year. Ashwin has been making impressive and steady progress in recent years both regionally in Wales and Nationally in the UK but also internationally in Europe. Ashwin now looks a different class from many judoka in his generation, this is an important milestone but likely to be only the beginning of a very bright Judo future.
It ought not to be forgotten that Ashwin benefits from a wonderfully supportive family environment both Thasan and Shamila are clearly justified to be duly proud of both their children both Jasmin and Ashwin are developing into fine judoka and young adults. They are a credit to themselves and their parents.
Thasan has become a tremendous mat side coach and is a real asset to The Samurai and an important member of the coaching team. He offers his support and expertise generously and freely inside the club, supporting all judoka in the competitive pathway.
